We are reaching out to provide an update on the Saamis Solar Project and to urge you to take action in expressing your concerns to City Council. Many constituents are worried about the financial burden this project places on residents, the lack of transparency, and insufficient public consultation.
Despite valid concerns raised by MHURA, the Alberta Utilities Commission denied our request for intervenor status simply because the Board members do not own property near the project. This decision highlights that our voices as concerned residents are not being prioritized, and it ultimately lies with City Council to address these issues.
If you’re troubled by the $7 million already spent on this project and the potential additional costs of at least $120 million—and possibly as much as $600 million—please Join us at the Southeast Alberta Home & Leisure Tradeshow from March 7-9, 2025, at the Cypress Centre in Medicine Hat, AB, and sign the MHURA Petition to ask council to STOP anything going forward that has to with the SSP.
